Recently, Kia EV6 has been seen during testing in India. The EV6 captured on camera sports a sporty crossover design with dynamic proportions. On the front, it has been given slim triangular headlights and its front end slope is seen going forward. Talking about the rear side, the boot here is slightly raised and it feels like an integrated spoiler. At boot, it gets a connected taillight that spans the entire width of the car and extends to the rear wheel arch. On the rear side, it gets cladding all-around at the bottom which makes its sporty look even more powerful.
In the international market, the EV6 comes in two battery sizes of 58 kWh and 77.4 kWh. It comes in rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive variants. Its smaller battery pack is given only in the rear-wheel-drive variant. It has an 800V charging setup for fast charging up to 350 kW, which charges the battery from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.
According to the USA range testing agency EPA, the small battery variant of the EV6 is capable of providing a range of up to 373 km. The power output of this engine is 170 Ps and 350 Nm. At the same time, the long-range 77.4 kWh battery provided with its rear-wheel-drive variant gives a range of up to 500 km. The power output of the electric motor in the rear-wheel-drive variant is 225 Ps and 350 Nm. The electric motor in the sporty all-wheel-drive variant makes 325 Ps of power and 605 Nm of torque along with the larger battery pack. The company will also launch its hardcore EV6 GT variant in the future, in which the electric motor will produce 585 Ps of power and 740 Nm of torque.
The cabin of the EV6 comes with a very modern design and it is also quite easy to use. The 12-inch digital driver display and 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system are positioned on the dashboard. The climate controls given in this electric car are very slim, as well as it also gets a panoramic panel below the central AC vents. The sporty-looking flat-bottom two-spoke steering wheel has been given in the EV6.
The sophisticated design of the floating center console, which is not connected to the dashboard, includes ambient lighting strips. On the upper end, it houses controls for the ignition switch, driver select (the dial), cupholders, wireless charging pad, and heated/ventilated front seats.
It is estimated that Kia can launch this electric vehicle as a premium car in India. Here it can be imported and sold. This vehicle will be positioned below the EV cars in the luxury segment. Its price in India can be kept between Rs 60 Lakh and Rs 70 Lakh (ex-showroom). In the segment, it will compete with the Volvo XC40 Recharge. Apart from this, it will also be compared to upcoming cars like Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Tesla Model Y.
