On March 21, the Tata Altroz DCT (DCA) will be launched in India. Its booking has already started with a token amount of Rs 21,000. This is the first automatic option offered in this hatchback. The Altroz will be Tata's first car to get a DCT gearbox option. With this, a new Opal Blue shade will also be given. It is estimated that its delivery may start a few days after the launch.

Tata will offer this automatic option with a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated engine (86Ps/ 113 Nm). This engine-transmission option will be available in this car with the mid-variant XT and the top-line variants XZ and XZ+. Apart from this, it will also be given with a dark edition. The Altroz also gets a 1.2-liter turbo petrol engine (110Ps / 140 Nm) and a 1.5-litre diesel engine (90Ps /200 Nm) options. A 5-speed MT gearbox has been given standard with both these engines.

The Altroz will be the second premium hatchback in India after the Hyundai i20 to come with a DCT gearbox option. Changes will hardly be seen in its exterior and feature list. The Volkswagen Polo (soon to be discontinued model) was the first car in the segment to get this gearbox, but the company stopped offering it after the introduction of BS6 norms.

The price of the Altroz DCT variant can be kept one lakh more than the petrol MT variant. Currently, the Altroz petrol variant is priced between Rs 5.99 lakh and Rs 8.79 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). In the segment, it will compete with Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Volkswagen Polo, Honda Jazz, and Hyundai i20.
