Mahindra XUV700 Javelin edition

Sometime back we mentioned the Javelin edition of Mahindra XUV700 that gold medalist Neeraj Chopra got. Now new pictures of the Javelin edition of the XUV700 have surfaced, one of which is for Neeraj Chopra and the other will be gifted to Paralympic gold medalist Sumit Antil.

The Javelin edition that Neeraj Chopra and Sumit Antil get are similar in appearance, though there has been a significant change at the rear. Both these SUVs featured the record throw meters of both the gold medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. Chopra had set a record of 87.58 m while Sumit's record is 68.55m.

An attempt has been made to make the Javelin Edition different from the regular XUV700. For this, the gold element has been given on the front grille and alloy wheel. Apart from this, Mahindra's logo given in the front and rear has also been kept in gold color. We can't see the interior yet, but we're expecting gold stitching on the dashboard (and potentially seat upholstery), as well as a gold-stitched Javelin thrower logo and a Throw length inscription. Pratap Bose, formerly the design Head of Tata and now the head of Mahindra's Global Design studio, was commissioned by Anand Mahindra to design the Javelin Edition for Chopra and Antil.

Which engine will be available in Mahindra XUV700 Javelin Edition, it is not known yet. However, looking at the market trend, it can be said that both these SUVs will be based on the top variant and can be given a 2.2-liter diesel engine (185 Ps) with more power tuning equipped with an automatic gearbox. In the regular model, this engine also comes with 155 Ps power tuning. Apart from this, the option of a 200 Ps 2.0 petrol engine is also available in it.

The XUV700 SUV features a segment-first dual 10.25-inch display and an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). Apart from this, the option of the luxury pack has also been kept in it. The all-wheel-drive option is available only on the top diesel variant. Now it remains to be seen whether these features are available in the Javelin Edition or not.

Apart from Neeraj Chopra and Sumit Antil, Mahindra will also gift an SUV to Avani Lekhara. However, the vehicle provided to Lekhara will be wheelchair accessible. Avani Lekhara has won a medal twice in the Paralympics, she has won gold in women's 10m air rifle and a bronze in 50 m air rifle.
