City Hybrid could be Honda's next hybrid car in India

The Hybrid City is powered by two electric motors and may also function as a pure electric vehicle.

Honda has recently launched the facelifted Amaze. At the launch event, the company has said that it will launch a hybrid model in India next year. It is being speculated that the company may introduce City Hybrid as a new hybrid car. Honda introduced the hybrid model of the City in the international market a year ago.

Honda City Hybrid

While the mild-hybrid setup is available in other mass-market hybrid cars, the proper hybrid setup has been given in the City Hybrid. It is fitted with two electric motors. It has a hybrid system with a 1.5-litre petrol engine. The electric motor found in it generates power of 109 Ps and torque of 253 Nm. At the same time, its 1.5-litre petrol engine generates 98 Ps of power and 127 Nm of torque. It also has a third motor for the starter generator. The City Hybrid only gets a CVT gearbox and is a front-wheel-drive car.

Honda City Hybrid

The City Hybrid can be offered in three modes: Pure Electric, Hybrid, and petrol engine. The company has also given a regenerative braking system in it, due to which its battery gets charged back to some extent during braking. Its overall system gives a mileage of 27.78 kmpl. It takes 9.4 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph. 

The design of the City hybrid is similar to that of the fifth-generation City sold in India. It also gets features like Adaptive Cruise control, Lane departure warning, and auto high beam assist which are not offered in the City sold in India.

Honda City Hybrid

The company can unveil the City Hybrid in India next year. It can be around Rs 3 lakh more expensive than the regular model. The regular Honda City price ranges between Rs 11.16 lakh to Rs 15.11 lakh (ex-showroom).
