The naturally aspirated Italian bulls may appear to be near the end of their run, but they'll be faster than ever.
Highlights
• Emissions regulations around the world, particularly in Europe, have compelled automakers to electrify models or transition to electric vehicles.
• Lamborghini will have to follow suit if it wants to keep growing its sales and profits.
• By 2024, Lamborghini plans to electrify its current portfolio (Aventador, Huracan and Urus).
• In the second half of the decade, it will introduce an all-electric Lamborghini supercar, marking the debut of its fourth model line.
Lamborghini, which produces performance-based cars, has announced that it will develop hybrid and pure electric versions of all its models as soon as possible.
This company, which has been doing business for only two cars for many years, last launched the Urus SUV in 2017. So far in India, the company has sold more than 100 units of its performance-based SUV, in which the given engine is capable of delivering 650 Ps of power. The Aventador with the naturally aspirated V12 petrol engine tops the company's lineup, while the Huracan that comes with the V10 engine is positioned just below it. On the other hand, the company's own supercar Sian FKP37 is sold in a limited way with hybrid technology with supercapacitors.
Now Lamborghini plans to electrify all three model lines by 2024, with the first series-production hybrid debuting in 2023. It has been more than 10 years since the Lamborghini Aventador was launched in the market, which can now be replaced by a new hybrid car, while the Huracan will be last updated with a hybrid powertrain. As the Lamborghini Urus shares a lot of mechanical components from Audi, it will be the second car in the company to feature hybrid technology with twin-turbo V8 engines.
Apart from this, a 2 door pure electric car from Lamborghini will also be launched at last under this plan. However, the company says that this car can be launched between 2025 and 2030. It will register its name as the fourth car in the company's lineup.
Looking at this plan of Lamborghini, it can be said that now the era of V12 engine supercars is truly coming to an end this decade. However, this performance-based carmaker may announce the launch of two new V12 cars this year, which will be the special edition of the Aventador car itself.
