2021 Skoda Kodiaq SUV unveiled to come with Sharp style and new turbo petrol engine

There's also a new 245 Ps vRS model with a slew of sporty cosmetic changes.

The Kodiaq SUV is getting the first facelft update since its 2016 launch.

Most changes have been done on the front in this SUV. It has been given a new bonnet, grille and sleek headlamps.

The vehicle gets new front and rear bumpers, new tail lamps and a sporty roof spoiler.

New ergonomics seats have been given as minor cosmetic changes.

A 190 Ps 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine is now available, as well as a 245 Ps variant for the Kodiaq RS.

The Kodiaq 7-seater version will have a 7-speed DSG gearbox front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive option standard with all variants except the base variant.

The new Kodiaq can be launched in India by the second quarter of 2021. Its price can start from 33 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).

Skoda Kodiaq was launched in late 2017 in India. At that time only the diesel engine was given in this SUV. After this, the company stopped the sale of this SUV due to the implementation of BS6 Norms. At the same time, the launch of Kodiaq BS6 petrol variants was postponed due to the coronavirus epidemic. Now the company has unveiled the facelift version of this big family SUV.

The 2021 Kodiaq has undergone several light changes. The most visible change is seen on the front. Skoda has added a redesigned bonnet, grille and bumpers to give it a sharper look which enhances the road presence of this SUV. This SUV has a large size grille on the front and sleek LED matrix headlamps are provided near the grille. On the rear side, it has a long and glossy black roof spoiler which gives a more attractive look to the car. It gets a redesigned read bumper and new LED taillights that follow Skoda's latest Crystalline design language.

Skoda has unveiled all variants of the facelift Kodiaq. The upcoming SUV will be launched in a total of four variants Standard, Lauren and Klement, Sportline and RS versions. The difference in the design of these variants will be seen only on the exterior (especially on the bumpers and wheels). The RS variant has a reflective strip on the rear side that extends the entire width of the SUV. It will not appear in other variants of the Kodiaq.

Talking about the interior of this Skoda SUV, it has the same dashboard layout as the older model, but it has the latest generation touchscreen infotainment system, which is 9.2-inch in size. The new Kodiaq offers new ergonomic seats that come with ventilation and massage function. The vehicle gets a sporty touch on the passenger side of the dashboard, as well as stitching with inserts on the door panels.

Talking about the features, the 7-seater Kodiaq will continue to get a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, power-adjustable seats, wireless charging, ambient lighting, multi-zone climate control and a 12-speaker Canton audio system (two speakers higher than before). Apart from this, it will get skoda's latest two spoke multi function steering wheel, while the RS variant has a sporty three-spoke steering wheel. This car still has premium dials for climate adjustment. It also gets steering mounted dials which are useful for navigating the driver display and controlling the media.

Turbo petrol engines and diesel engines options will continue to be available in the international version of Kodiaq. It also has the option of front-wheel-drive and all-wheel drive. Only one of its variants will be given a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The entry-level variant of this vehicle will get a 6-speed manual and front-wheel drive option with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine (150 Ps). This engine comes with ACT (Active Cylinder Technology) which closes two out of four cylinders for better mileage. It has a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine of the Skoda Superb which generates power of 190 Ps. It has an all-wheel-drive option as standard. A powerful version of this engine has been given in its performance variant RS which generates power of 245 Ps. The facelift Kodiaq also features a 2.0-litre diesel engine that comes with two power tuning 150 Ps and 200 Ps. The all-wheel-drive system is standard with its 200 Ps version. It is estimated that only a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine (190 Ps) will be given in the facelift version of Skoda Kodiaq in India.

Skoda Kodiaq will compete with new and old models in the premium 7-seater SUV segment. Its facelift version may be available for sale in the European market by July 2021, while in India the car may arrive by the end of the year. Its price can start from 33 lakh rupees (ex-showroom). In the segment, it will compete with Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, MG Gloster and Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace.
