Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza sales surpassed 6 lakh units in India

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has crossed the sales figure of six lakh units within five years of its arrival in the market and is currently sold with only one petrol engine.

Six lakh units sold in five years

It is being offered with a bs6 1.5-litre four-cylinder K15B mild-hybrid petrol engine.

In India, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza was first introduced in 2016.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited unveiled its flagship SUV Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza at the Auto Expo 2016 and after launch, the compact SUV not only challenged the Ford Ecosport in its segment but also set a new benchmark.

The Vitara Brezza's market debut was a bang, and in less than a year, its sales figure had crossed 1 lakh units, while its sales volume doubled in the next eight months. The popularity of the Vitara Brezza grew over time amid the arrival of new competitors and by July 2018, three lakhs sales had been achieved.

The five-seater car continued its sales volume even further and crossed four lakh units in February 2019, while it now took less than two years to achieve sales figure of up to 6 lakhs. The company introduced the facelift Vitara Brezza at the 2020 Auto Expo four years after its market debut and with the facelift the company also introduced a 1.5-litre four-cylinder K15B mild-hybrid petrol engine in it.

The SUV was previously powered by a 1.3-litre four-cylinder DDiS 200 diesel engine producing 90 Ps of power and 200 Nm of torque and was mated to a five-speed manual transmission, but the engine was discontinued after the introduction of BS6 emission norms. The SUV is currently powered by a petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 104.7 Ps and torque of 138 Nm. It is mated to a five-speed manual and four-speed torque converter automatic transmission. It also has a mild hybrid system which improves its mileage. In general, this SUV give mileage ranging from 17.03 kmpl to 18.76 kmpl.

The compact SUV in India is priced from Rs 7.39 lakhs to Rs 11.40 lakhs (ex-showroom) and has been offered in Lxi, Vxi, Zxi and Zxi Plus variants. The updated Brezza received integrated LED daytime running lights, upgraded LED fog lamps, redesigned 16-inch alloy wheels and a new front grille with other minor cosmetic changes.

The car is getting three dual-tone colour options, including Sizzling Red with Midnight Black Roof, Torque Blue with Midnight Black Roof and Granite Grey with Autumn Orange Roof, while the interior features a 7-inch smartplay touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity. Apart from this, features such as leather wrap steering wheel, automatic climate control, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) are available.
