Mahindra Thar's waiting period has reached till 2022

Depending on the powertrain and roof options, you'll have to wait for a minimum of 6 months and up to 10 months to get your hands on the new Thar.

It has been almost five months since the Mahindra Thar was launched and it remains the company's best-selling SUV. Some time ago the company increased the price of Thar and discontinued its base model AX. Due to the high demand for the new Thar, the waiting period of this car has reached 10 months, which means that if a customer book this car today, he will get its delivery in 2022.

For the convertible and hardtop petrol manual variants of Mahindra Thar, customers will have to wait at least 6 months. At the same time, the maximum waiting period of 10 months is running on its automatic variants. New Mahindra Thar comes in two variants which are AX Optional and LX. The option of an automatic transmission is kept in its top model LX.

The 2021 Mahindra Thar is available in both petrol and diesel engine options. Its diesel variant has a 2.2-litre engine that generates 130 Ps of power and 300 Nm of torque. The petrol variant has a 2.0-litre turbo engine whose power output is 150 Ps and torque is 320 Nm. Along with the engine, it gets a 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox option. Thar is now available only in hardtop and convertible rooftop options. The company has discontinued its AX and AX standard variants with side-facing seats. This Mahindra car now only comes with a front-facing seat which has a 4-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test.

The new Mahindra Thar gets features such as a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Android Auto and Apple Carplay connectivity, roof-mounted speakers, cruise control, rear parking sensors, dual-front airbags, brake locking differential, height-adjustable driver seat and rollover cage.

Currently, Mahindra Thar has priced between Rs 12.10 lakh and Rs 14.15 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). In the segment, this car will be compared to the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny and the Force Gurkha.
