2021 MG ZS EV launched, now electric car will run 419 km in full charge

The 2021 ZS EV has an improved battery, a better tire-aspect ratio and higher ground clearance.

The updated MG ZS EV has a driving range of 419 km, which is about 80 km more than before.

Its ground clearance has increased to 177 mm.

For riding, it has been given bigger tires than before.

It has become more expensive by Rs 60,000 than before.

MG Motors launched ZS EV in India in January 2020. Now MG has launched its update model, which has been introduced with better battery pack, more ground clearance and some new features. Due to all these updates, it has become more expensive than before by Rs 60,000.

The MG ZS EV SUV has been introduced in two variants, Excite and Exclusive as before, priced at Rs 20.99 lakh and Rs 24.18 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively. Its base model has become expensive by Rs 11,000 while the Exclusive variant has become expensive by Rs 60,000. The difference between these two variants is Rs 3.19 lakh.

It has an updated 44.5 kWh battery pack, which has a full charge range of 419 km. Its range is 80 km more than before. The power output of the electric motor in it is 143 Ps and 353 Nm as before. Its ground clearance has also increased to 177 mm and its battery is positioned at a height of 205 mm. The tires fitted in it are 215/55 R17 while the 215/50 R17 size tires have been given in its older model. It has a new feature called Eco Tree challenge.

The electric car has a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, rain-sensing wipers, three-level braking regeneration, cruise control, TPMS, power driver seat, electric parking brake, hill start/descent assist, six airbags as before. Features like rear parking camera and voice commands are also provided.

The battery in it can be charged 80 per cent in just 50 minutes with a DC fast charger. At the same time, it takes 6 to 8 hours to fully charge its battery with a normal AC charger. The ZS EV can also be charged with a normal plug and it takes 18 to 19 hours to charge.

The MG ZS EV is available for sale in 31 cities in India. Its direct comparison is from the Hyundai Kona EV, which is priced between Rs 23.75 lakh to Rs 23.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tata Nexon EV is currently the cheapest electric car with a long-range in the country.
