Mahindra XUV300 becomes Africa's safest car, 5-star safety rating in crash test

The sub-compact SUV Mahindra XUV300 is currently the safest car in India. It received a 5-star rating for passenger safety in the crash test of Global NCAP some time ago. Recently in Africa also this vehicle has been given a 5-star safety rating.

With this, the XUV300 has become Africa's first 5-star safety rated car. Global NCAP has done a crash test of XUV300 sold in Africa, scoring 16.42 points out of 17 for adult passenger safety and 37.44 points out of 49 for child passenger safety. Its body was found stable in the crash test. The same figure was also found in the crash test of the Indian Model of XUV300 in 2020.

In the crash test, this Mahindra car got a good rating for the protection of the driver and co-driver neck and head. Protection of the co-driver and driver's chest was also quite good. In a test, the footwell area of this vehicle was stable and the driver and co-driver protection was good.

The XUV300 sold in Africa is manufactured in India. This made in India car gets standard features like dual front airbags, seat belt reminder, seat pre-tensioner, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors. At the same time, its top model has features like seven airbags, hill start assist, front parking sensor, all disc brake and rear parking camera.

Apart from this, features like heated ORVM, dual-zone climate control, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, electronic sunroof, cruise control, projector headlamp, tire pressure monitoring system, rain-sensing wiper and automatic headlamp are given in this compact SUV.

Mahindra XUV300 sold in Africa has been given both petrol and diesel engine options same as the Indian version. Its petrol model has a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine that generates 110 Ps of power and 200 Nm of torque. The diesel model has a 1.5-litre engine whose power output is 116 Ps / 300 Nm. With both engines, a 6-speed manual gearbox is given standard, while a 6-speed AMT option is also included with the diesel engine.

The price of Mahindra XUV300 in India has been kept between Rs 7.95 lakh to Rs 12.30 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Comparisons of the car in the segment are from Tata Nexon, Nissan Magnite, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser and Renault Kiger.
