Volkswagen Taigun is based on the shared MQB A0 IN platform with Skoda Vision IN and will go on sale next year in India.
This will be the first product under the company's India 2.0 project. Both the brands have invested heavily in the Indian market for a sustainable future and despite the sudden exit of some high profile manufacturers in recent years, they have indeed maintained their trust.
The sale of the Volkswagen Taigun is expected to begin in the second half of 2021. Recently the German auto major has released a promo video of their Taigun SUV in which we get a glimpse of this car. The Taigun will be launched in India in a five-seater edition and has a length of over four meters. The car will be developed on the MQB A0 IN platform in India and will be heavily localized. The company explained in its 46-second video clip what Taigun means. The meaning of Taigun is related to energy.
This Volkswagen's mid-size SUV has new LED tail lamps, sharp LED headlamps, black B pillars, chrome window line and body-coloured door handles and chrome front grille. The side profile footage shows the SUV's sporty character lines, creases, roof-mounted rear spoiler, roof rails and side body cladding.
Talking about the feature, the Skoda Vision IN SUV and Taigun will have many similarities and both will get a larger touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, all-digital instrument cluster, wireless charging facility, front ventilated seats, automatic climate control system, the sunroof can also be found.
To power it, the new Volkswagen Taigun can get a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine with manual and automatic transmission options. When launched in India, the SUV will compete with other mid-size SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Nissan Kicks.
