Similarly, the 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine generates 90 Ps of power and 200 Nm of torque. This turbocharged petrol engine in the upcoming Altroz Turbo is also available with the Nexon petrol, which produces 120 Ps of power and 170 Nm of torque. However, in the five-seater premium hatchback, it will produce around 110 Ps of power and 140 Nm of torque.

Tata Motors is expanding its range to make the Altroz stand up firmly against the new Hyundai i20. Hyundai has equipped the car with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder T-GDi petrol engine, which generates 120 Ps of power and 172 Nm of torque. This unit is mated with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCT automatic transmission.

Similarly, the 1.0-litre petrol motor on the Volkswagen Polo generates 110 Ps of power and 175 Nm of torque, paired with either a six-speed MT or a six-speed AT. The Altroz is currently priced from Rs 5.44 lakh to Rs 8.95 lakh (showroom).

With the new engine, the Altroz will also get a new blue colour scheme and turbo badge on the boot. The Tata Altroz already has a luxurious interior and it is expected that the turbocharged variants will have contrast seat stitching and other subtle updates that will be different from the regular model. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see how Tata Altroz will hit the market with Turbo.
