By early 2021, Tata is expected to launch an automatic option for the Altroz.

At the Geneva Motor Show 2019, the company announced Altroz turbo petrol version, standard Altroz was launched in January 2020.

At present, only a manual gearbox with a petrol and diesel engine is given.

Altroz Turbo will be equipped with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine with a power output of 110 Ps.

5-Speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox options will be available with this engine.

Only the top variants of Altroz will get the option of a turbo petrol engine, which can be priced up to Rs 1 lakh more than standard petrol variants.

The Tata Altroz was launched in India in early 2020 with petrol and diesel engines that do not have an automatic gearbox option. However, before Tata launched the Altroz, it was announced that it will also bring its turbo petrol version, but it has not been launched yet.

Recently, Altroz turbo has been spotted once again during testing. There is no difference between its turbo version as compared to the standard model, but turbo badging is definitely under the tailgate of the turbo version. Some time ago we saw the Tata Altroz Turbo version during testing but at that time it was only seen from behind. This premium hatchback was spotted in the tectonic blue colour of sub-4 meter compact SUV Tata Nexon. This colour option is not given in the regular model of Altroz, but it can be seen in its turbo version.

The Tata Altroz Turbo will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with a capacity of 110 hp and 140 Nm of torque. It is believed that with this engine, a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic DCT gearbox and 5-speed manual will be available. The DCT gearbox going to be found in the Altroz will not only meet the shortage of automatic gearboxes in its transmission lineup but with this gearbox, this car will be able to give a tough competition to the new i20. Let us know that the Hyundai i20 is being given the option of a very powerful 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine which is capable of generating 120 Ps of power and 172 Nm of torque.

There will be no extra features in Altroz Turbo variant as compared to the standard variant of the hatchback. The new engine option will be found in the top variants of this premium hatchback XT and XZ. The price of the Altroz Turbo manual can be more than Rs 1 lakh as compared to the standard petrol variants. At the same time, its DCT variant will prove to be even more expensive. Currently, Tata Altroz has priced between Rs 5.44 lakh and Rs 9.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). In the premium hatchback segment, it competes with Maruti Suzuki Boleno, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo and Toyota Glanza.
