A host of sportier cosmetic enhancements and added features were provided by this variant.

The model was available in a 2.8-litre diesel engine with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The SUV was priced at Rs. 2.45 lakh more than the standard variants.

Fortuner's facelift model could be launched by early 2021.

Toyota has discontinued the special TRD edition of the Fortuner SUV. This edition, based on the top variant diesel automatic, was launched in August 2020. It was given 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrain options. Compared to the regular SUV, here is how it was priced:

The TRD variant cost Rs. 2.45 lakh more than the diesel automatic variant of Toyota Fortuner. Only a 2.8-litre diesel engine (177Ps/ 450Nm) was offered in the Fortuner TRD. A 6-speed automatic gearbox was given with this engine which also had the option of 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrain. On the other hand, standard models of Toyota Fortuner have diesel manual and 2.7-litre petrol engine (166 Ps/ 245 Nm) options. While the option of a manual and automatic gearbox is kept with the petrol model, there is no option of 4x4 drivetrain in it.

The Limited Edition of this SUV was available with a few minor upgrades including a different front and rear bumpers, 18-inch black coloured alloy wheels, TRD badges and dual-tone black roof. Talking of the cabin, the Fortuner TRD offers a cabin layout theme of black and maroon colour.

Toyota Fortuner TRD Edition gets additional features such as illuminated scuff plates, 360-degree camera, auto-folding outside rearview mirror. Apart from this, special technology pack also offered with it in which it gets features like head-up display, tire pressure monitoring system, rear wireless phone charger, air ionised, video recorder and puddle lamps at additional cost. On the other hand, the standard model of the Fortuner SUV gets feature such as Bi-Beam LED projector headlamps, powered tailgate with height-adjustable memory, electrically adjustable front seats, cruise control, 7 airbags and leather upholstery.

The Toyota Fortuner TRD competes with the Ford Endeavour sport. The standard model of this SUV competes with the Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4, MG Gloster, Volkswagen Tiguan All-space, Honda CR-V and the upcoming BS6 Skoda Kodiaq in the segment. Toyota may launch the Fortuner Facelift in early 2021. Unofficial booking of this upcoming SUV has already started at some dealerships.
