Tata HBX front profile captured in camera, looks very close to the production model

The headlamps and DRL's look identical to the Auto Expo 2020 pre-production concept.

Tata's upcoming micro SUV has been spotted many times during testing but the most recent sighting shows that it may be very close to production. Showcased under the name HBX at Auto Expo 2020, some more pictures of this car have been captured again in the camera which shows its front profile. The front profile looks exactly like the front of the concept model of this car.

While unveiling the HBX concept, the company said that 80 per cent of its production model design will be the same as the concept model. In this way, this model, which has spotted during testing, has got LED daytime running lamps with split design headlamps on the bumpers as shown in the concept model. Its concept model looked like an off-road car with a large front skid plate. In such a situation, it is expected that the front of its production model with look heavy. This time, this model of Tata HbX, spotted during testing, has steel wheels and halogen headlamps, suggesting that it could be its base variant. The top variant of the Tata HBX has been seen during testing, in which dual-tone alloy wheels can be given.

The small SUV's overall design resembled a boxy shape, spotted during testing several times, and it is expected that the cladding can be used more to give it an SUV-like look. The interior of the Tata HBX is yet to be seen, though it is speculated that its cabin layout may be very similar to its concept model with a heavy dashboard. Features such as floating touchscreen infotainment system, auto AC and semi-digital instrument cluster can be offered in this upcoming Tata micro SUV.

This micro SUV of Tata is likely to be launched only in the petrol engine. It can be given a 1.2-litre petrol engine that generates 86 Ps of power and 113 Nm of torque. With the engine, it can be offered with a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox. There are speculations that the company may also launch an electric version sometime after it is introduced in the petrol model.

The Tata HBX will be positioned below Nexon. Its price can start from Rs 5 lakhs. It will compete with Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Mahindra KUV100 NXT. At the same time, it will also compete with Hyundai's soon to be launched micro SUV.
