Skoda cars will be expensive from new year

From next year, almost all auto companies are going to increase the prices of their cars. Several companies, including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra, Ford and Tata Motors, have already announced an increase in the price of their car models from 1 January. Now carmaker Skoda Auto has also announced a price increase of their cars from the first month of the new year. The company will increase the prices of all its models by 2.5 per cent from 1 January 2021.

Skoda said that the increase in car prices had to be done due to rising costs. The company said that the prices of raw materials have increased this year as well as the cost rise is also due to fluctuating exchanges rates globally, due to which car manufacturing has become expensive now. Skoda said that the rising cost cannot be absorbed for a long time, so the company will balance by increasing the price. Skoda Auto is about to launch cars in India under project 2.0.

In this project, the company is preparing its models exclusively for the Indian market. Recently the names of three cars models have been trademarked by Skoda are revealed which are - Kosmiq, Karmiq and Kushaq. The company has not confirmed it officially but it may be revealed in the coming time. Earlier, the company has also registered 'Skoda Kliq'. It is said that Skoda's upcoming SUV Vision IN can be named 'Kliq'. The production model of this SUV has been spied testing on Indian Roads many times before. Now the company has also revealed that Vision IN will be launched soon.

Skoda is preparing to launch cars in India in a phased manner over the next few years. According to the information, new cars will be launched between 2021 and 2023. Speaking of the first car under project 2.0, it will be a mid-size family SUV Vision IN being built on the localised MQB A0 IN platform. The Vision IN has Skoda's iconic front grille, slim twin-pod LED headlight, LED fog lamp, LED taillights. According to the unit displayed at Auto Expo 2020, the side profile of the Vision IN concept has a chrome belt running under the window lining and a chunky plastic black cladding all around for the SUV look. The SUV also gets black roof rails and 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

The Interior of the Vision IN concept gets dual-tone finishing in black and orange. The SUV also features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 3-spoke flat bottomed steering wheel and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the middle of the dashboard. Multimedia features like Android Auto and Apple Carplay can also be found in it.

Talking about the engine, the Vision IN SUV can offer a 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol engine that will produce 150 Ps of power and 250 Nm of torque. Shift by wire dual-clutch 7-speed gearbox can also be given in the SUV. In India, Skoda Vision IN will compete with Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.
