How does Nissan's Magnite pricing stack up against its many competitors?
Nissan has entered the sub-4 meter SUV segment with the Magnite SUV. The price of this compact SUV starts at Rs. 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Compared to Kia Sonet, this vehicle is cheaper by Rs. 1.72 lakh. The Magnite has a powerful 1.0-litre engine that comes with a manual gearbox. Apart from this, it also has a new turbo petrol engine that generates 100 Ps of power and is equipped with CVT automatic gearbox. On the price front, let's see how much better it is than the other SUV present in the competition.

• Nissan Magnite is the most affordable option in the segment. It is cheaper by Rs. 1.72 lakh from Sonet, Rs. 1.76 lakh from Hyundai Venue and Rs. 2.35 lakh from Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
• Magnite is also the most affordable option with its mid-variant XV. It has a less powerful 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.
• In the top variant XV Premium (O) of Magnite, only the connected car technology is given as an additional feature compared to the XV Premium variant and due to this its price has been kept more than Rs. 10,000.
• Toyota Urban Cruiser is the highest in the entry-level price segment as its base variants have more features than the mid variant of rival cars.
• Nissan Magnite's turbo petrol model is the most affordable in the sub-4 meter SUV segment. It has a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine capable of generating 100 Ps of power. This variant is only Rs. 900 cheaper than the initial price of Tata Nexon. Tata Nexon has a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine (120 Ps) as standard.
• The Sonet's GTX+ variant equipped with turbo petrol engine and iMT gearbox (clutchless manual) in the segment is quite expensive. A 6-speed manual gearbox is not offered with this powertrain.
• The top petrol manual variant of Magnite is much cheaper than the top models of rival cars.
• The same engine options have been offered in the Hyundai Venue as the Kia Sonet. Apart from Sonet, Venue is the only car to have an iMT gearbox.
• Most cars in the sub-4 meter SUV segment get a dual-tone exterior finish option at a fixed price, with prices for Magnite, Sonet, XIV300 and Nexon priced at Rs. 14000, Rs. 10000, Rs. 15000 and Rs. 20000 respectively.
• Magnite is an affordable option, in which the option of the dual-tone exterior is available from the XV Premium variant at a lower price. At the same time, the dual-tone option starts to meet the XZ+ variants in Tata Nexon. However, the dual-tone option in the XUV300 is available only in the top variant.
• The Hyundai Venue also offers a dual-tone option, but it has been given along with the sport package and it also gets many additional features. The price of the dual-tone sport package is different on different variants of the Venue.

• Magnite's entry level CVT variant is cheaper by Rs. 1.78 lakh from Hyundai Venue's entry-level DCT variant, Rs. 1.86 lakh from the Brezza base automatic variant and up to Rs. 2.6 lakh from Sonet's entry-level automatic variant.
• Kia Sonet's GTX Plus is the most expensive automatic variant in this segment. It has a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox with a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. The same engine-transmission options are also given in the Hyundai Venue.
• Nexon is the only car in this segment to have an AMT gearbox, while the XUV300 does not feature petrol automatic.
• The Vitara Brezza/ Urban Cruiser has a 4-speed torque converter gearbox. It has a mild-hybrid system with a 1.5-litre petrol engine.
• The Ford Ecosport also has a torque converter automatic gearbox with a 1.5-litre petrol engine. It is the most powerful car in the segment.
