New Toyota Fortuner will be launched on 6 January 2021

In the full-size SUV segment, it will continue to go up against Ford Endeavour and MG Gloster.

There will be an option of standard and New Legender variants.

Both have cosmetic tweaks, such as a redesigned front fascia and a new pattern for the bumper.

While the diesel engine will be an improved one, the facelifted SUV will get the same petrol engine as the pre-facelift model.

The facelift Toyota Fortuner will launch in India on 6 January 2021. The company first launched it in Thailand in June 2020. Given the interest of customers towards this upcoming Toyota SUV, some dealers of the company have also started booking it from where it can be booked by paying a token amount of Rs 50,000.

The new Toyota Fortuner will be offered in standard and new Legender variants. Its Thailand model has been updated with new LED headlamps at the front, new tail lamps at the rear and new front and rear bumpers.

The cabin of the facelift Fortuner SUV can be offered in an all-black layout, while the dual-tone interior theme can be given in its Legender variant. It can get features such as a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay connectivity (9 inches in the Legender and 8.0 inches in the standard variant) and T-connect connected car technology. Like the Thai version, the company can also offer 360-degree parking camera, wireless charging pad and power tailgate with a sweep to open function in the Legender variant here.

The new Toyota Fortuner SUV can get 2.7-litre petrol (166 Ps/ 245 Nm) and a 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine (204 Ps/ 500 Nm) options. It is being speculated that the powerful turbo-diesel engine can also be given in its Legender variant. It will be offered with a 5-speed manual with petrol engine and a 6-speed manual gearbox with diesel engine, while with both engines it will also get the option of 6-speed automatic gearbox. There are discussions that the company will introduce its petrol model as two-wheel-drive while the diesel model is all-wheel-drive as before.

Currently, the Toyota Fortuner price starts at Rs 28.66 lakh while the Fortuner top model is priced at Rs 34.43 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). There are speculations that its facelift model may cost more than this. In this full-size SUV segment, this upcoming SUV will complete with the Ford Endeavour, MG Gloster and Mahindra Alturas G4.
