New-gen Volkswagen Vento may launch at the end of next year

German car manufacturer Volkswagen launched its C-segment sedan, Volkswagen Vento, in the Indian market almost a decade ago and since then the company has made almost no changes to the sedan. However, now the company wants to replace this car with the new model. For this, the company has also started preparations and it is believed that the new-generation Volkswagen Vento will be launched in the Indian market by the end of next year and before next-gen Skoda Rapid. 

Although this has not been officially confirmed and ahead of its debut, we put together a list of the top 5 stuff you should know about the next-gen Vento:

New Platform

The current generation Volkswagen Vento is built on the company's PQ25 platform, which also underpins its cousin sedan the Skoda Rapid. However, the  Volkswagen group is now working on an all-new platform for compact cars in India which is the heavily localised MQB A0 IN architecture. According to the information, the new generation Vento will be going to be based on this platform just like next-gen Skoda Rapid.

Features and safety

Talking about the features in the new-gen Volkswagen Vento, it can be given features such as full LED lighting, a fully digital virtual cockpit instrument cluster, ambient lighting and a big touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and connected car technology.

At the same time, talking about its safety features, the company can include several airbags, rear parking camera, ABS with EBD, hill hold control, electronic stability program and some new additional safety features.

Engine

Its existing 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged TSI petrol engine will likely to be on offer with the new-generation Vento. This motor produces a maximum power of 110 Ps and a peak torque of 175 Nm. A 6-speed manual gearbox, as well as an optional automatic gearbox, will be included in the transmission options.

Design

The design of the current generation Volkswagen Vento has been the same for a very long time. However, the biggest change in the new-generation Volkswagen Vento will be going to be in its design. It will get a style update for the first time since its first launch in India. 

At present, no information has been revealed about the design of the new-generation Volkswagen Vento. However, it is believed that the new-gen Vento will have a completely new design, which will be in line with other global cars of the company.

Price and rival

Currently, Volkswagen Vento is being sold at a starting price of Rs 8.93 lakh which goes up to Rs 13.39 lakh for its top model (ex-showroom). However, keeping in mind all the changes, the price of the new-gen model may increase.

Talking about its competitors in the market, after the launch, this car will be competing with existing C-segment sedans such as Skoda Rapid, Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Toyota Yaris and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
