Honda Civic and CR-V discontinued, the company prohibits production at Noida Plant

The lineup of carmaker is now down to just five models.

Honda Civic

Honda has planned to consolidate manufacturing at the Rajasthan plant.

Both Civic and CR-V have been discontinued due to low demand.

The R&D and two-wheeler business at the Greater Noida plant will still be operational.

Customers can buy the Civic and CR-V at the dealership as long as they remain in stock.

Honda has stopped manufacturing cars at its Greater Noida plant. This is the first plant in the country from where the company started its business. Now the company plans to improve manufacturing at its plant at Tapukara in Rajasthan.

With the closure of production at the Greater Noida plant, the company has also discontinued the Civic and CR-V. Both these cars were being manufactured in this plant. However, customers can get these from the dealership till their last stock. According to the company, the decision has been taken due to market uncertainty and losses from the covid-19 epidemic.

In this regard, the CEO of Honda cars India says that "despite the sales growth in the last three months, there is an environment of uncertainties for the industry in the market. Covid-19 has affected us financially. Now we have plans to make the Tapukara plant a manufacturing base."

Honda CR-V

According to the company, the plant in Greater Noida has not been completely closed. Here the company's R&D, Spare part and two-wheeler business will continue as before.

The Honda Civic was given the option of 1.8-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel engines. At the same time, the 2.0-litre petrol engine was given in the CR-V. After the closure of these two Honda cars, the company now has five cars in its lineup: Jazz, WR-V, Amaze, fourth-generation city and New City.

The Civic sedan is currently priced between Rs 17.93 lakh and Rs 22.34 lakh while the CR-V is priced at Rs 28.27 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Both of these cars can be purchased at the dealership until they are in stock. Dealer can also offer a considerable discount on these to settle their stock.
