These new electric cars will be launched in India next year

The demand for electric cars in India is increasing. Given this, automobile companies have planned to launch electric models in the new year. In the new year, some cars will be launched as the electric version of the current IC model while some may be completely new models. Companies that will launch electric cars in the new year include Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, Renault, Tata, Jaguar, Audi and now American electric car company Tesla. These cars will be launched in India from the beginning of the new year.

1. Maruti Suzuki WagonR Electric

Maruti Suzuki's popular hatchback WagonR is scheduled to be launched in the electric version next year. This car may be the Indian version of the electric WagonR sold in Japan. The company had earlier announced to bring this car in India.

In September 2018, Maruti Suzuki produced 50 prototype models of WagonR electric for testing at its Gurgaon plant. These models are being tested for the Indian weather and environment. However, electric WagonR will be launched after the completion of testing of these models in 2021. WagonR electric can be priced at Rs 8-9 lakh (ex-showroom).

2. Mahindra eKUV100

The Mahindra eKUV100 was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2018 and has been waiting to be launched in India ever since then. The design of Mahindra eKUV100 is mostly going to remain the same as the petrol KUV100 with some minor changes. This car can be available in India for 9 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).

The Mahindra eKUV100 electric motor produces 54 bhp of power and 120 Nm of torque. On the full charge, Mahindra eKUV100 can travel for up to 147 km. It is believed that eKUV100 is going to be the most economical electric car in the country.

3. Renault Kwid Electric

Renault has been working on the electric version of its most popular hatchback Kwid for quite some time now. The company has introduced the electric version of Kwid in the European market. The company has introduced it as Dacia Spring Electric. According to the information, this car has been prepared on the CMF-A platform. Dacia Spring Electric will be launched in India under the name of Renault Kwid electric.

A 33 kW electric motor will be used in this electric car. This car will be going to be among the most affordable electric cars sold in India. According to estimates, the booking of Kwid Electric in India will start in 2021 and will be made available in two variants.

4. Tata Altroz EV

The Tata Altroz EV was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo held in Greater Noida. The car is built on the Company's ALFA platform and uses Ziptron technology. Tata will be going to use this same technology for their upcoming electric cars.

However, the company has not disclosed much about its feature list but it has been said that this car can run up to 250 km on a single charge. The Tata Altroz EV was first supposed to be launched this year but due to the Corona epidemic, its launch has been pushed forward and now the car is ready for launch in 2021.

5. Jaguar i-Pace

Jaguar i-Pace electric may now be launched soon as its bookings have been started in India. Its delivery will start in March 2021. The Jaguar i-Pace is fitted with two electric motors which together with 90 kWh lithium-ion battery provides 400 bhp of power. The company will give an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty on its battery.

It is going to be the company's premium electric SUV. This electric car can provide a range of around 480 km on a single charge. The 4-wheel drive will be given as standard in the car. The company has joined hands with Tata power for charging solutions at home and office.

6. Audi e-Tron

Audio India is set to launch its first luxury electric SUV in India. The company has confirmed to launch it in 2021. The size of the Audi e-Tron is the same as the Audi Q5 and Audi Q7. Also at the same time, the company has not kept its design much different from other Q series SUVs of Audi. But due to some design elements and some new and minor changes here and there, it can be distinguished from Audi Q series SUVs.

The price of the Audi e-Tron in India can be between 54 lakh to 56 lakh rupees. The Audi e-Tron has two electric motors that provide a total power of 355 bhp. Its peak torque output is 561 Nm. Audi e-Tron can travel up to 400 km on a single charge.

7. Tesla Model 3

After years of waiting, now American carmaker Tesla has announced to bring its popular Model 3 to India. The company is scheduled to start its booking in India from next month. Model 3 is going to be Tesla's first electric car in India.

According to the information, it can be launched in June 2021. It will be the cheapest car in the company which is also the best selling car. It is to be brought into the country as a completely built unit (CBU). In this form, the company can bring only 2500 units every year.
