Renault Kiger to be launched in India by 2021

The French carmaker upcoming sub-4 meter SUV is expected to offer segment-leading cabin space.

Renault has pushed forward the launch of its upcoming sub-4 meter compact SUV. In India, this car can be named Kiger. It was earlier to be launched by Diwali 2️020, but now the company has announced that it will be introduced by early 2021.

The company's managing director Venkatram Mamillapalle stated in its statement that uncertainties caused by lockdown restrictions have disrupted various aspects of the demand and supply chains. As a result, the company has decided to postpone the launch of this sub-4 meter SUV until it can adequately meet the demand of its dealer network across India. He also clarified that this model is ready.

This upcoming car has been built on the same platform as its sub-4 meter compact crossover MPV Triber. In such a situation, its cabin will also be more spacious just like Triber. Let us know that Renault Kiger has also been seen many times during testing. It is speculated that this may be a very tall stance car. The design of this vehicle is yet to be officially unveiled. The company has not yet released its pre-production concept teaser, while the teaser of the Nissan Magnite SUV which is its cousin has already been released.

Like the Triber MPV, the 1.0-litre petrol engine can be given in Kiger SUV too. This engine is capable of generating 72 Ps of power and 96 Nm of peak torque. With the engine, a 5-speed manual transmission option can be kept in it. Apart from this, the company will also provide a new 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine that will generate 100 Ps of power and 160 Nm of torque. It is estimated that the company may also offer CVT automatic gearbox with its turbocharged petrol engine.

In terms of comfort, this car can be offered with features like cruise control, auto AC with rear vents, a semi-digital instrument cluster and an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car technology. Keeping in mind the safety of the passengers, it can also get four airbags, rear parking camera and dynamic controls.

In India, the price of Renault Kiger which is now to be launched in early 2021 can be kept between Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom ). In the segment, it will compete with Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Ford Ecosport, Mahindra XUV300 as well as the upcoming Nissan Magnite.
