Volkswagen launches special edition models of Polo and Vento

The red and white special edition limited run versions are based on Polo and Vento's newly launched Highline Plus and Highline variants, respectively.

Volkswagen Polo special edition

  • Polo Highline Plus AT has priced at Rs. 9.19 lakh.
  • The Vento Highline AT has priced at Rs. 11.49 lakh.
  • Until now, Polo Highline Plus and Vento Highline were available only with the manual gearbox.
  • The exterior has undergone some cosmetic changes in the special edition.
  • There is no change in its engine. Even now it has a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine.
  • The Vento Highline AT variant is cheaper than the fifth-generation Honda City and Hyundai Verna's entry-level variants.
  • Red and White limited-run editions have no additional premium over the respective versions.

Volkswagen has launched the affordable automatic variants of the Polo and Vento cars, the Highline Plus AT and Highline AT in India. Their price has been kept at Rs 9.19 lakh and Rs. 11.49 lakh respectively. Keeping in mind the festival season, the company has also introduced red and white limited edition variants based on them. The Polo special edition is available in flash red, sunset red and candy white colour options. At the same time, Vento special edition can be purchased in sunset red and candy white colour options.

Talking about the changes in these cars, the Polo special edition features a white or black roof, white or black ORVM, red and white badging on the front fenders, white or black spoiler, sunblind and white decals on the underside of the door. Whereas, in the Vento special edition, all these changes have been done in black colour. Apart from this, all the features have been given in both the cars from the models on which these cars are based. These include cruise control, auto-dimming IRVM, rear AC vents, voice command and so on.

Volkswagen Vento special edition

Since these are both special editions, there has been no change in their engine. The same 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine with automatic transmission has been given with Polo and Vento Red and White edition. This engine is capable of generating 110Ps of power and 175 Nm of torque. The company claims that the Polo's BS6 AT variant gives a mileage of 16.47 km per litre, while the Vento's (ARAI) gives a mileage of 16.35 km per litre. Till now a 6-speed manual gearbox with the Polo Highline Plus and Vento Highline variants was offered. However, with the special edition, Volkswagen has introduced the Highline Plus At and Highline AT variant equipped with automatic transmissions for Polo and Vento cars respectively.

Despite the more affordable automatic transmission variants being included in the Polo, its price is still higher than other cars in the segment such as the Maruti Suzuki Baleno/ Toyota Glanza, Tata Altroz, Hyundai I20 and Honda Jazz. At the same time, Vento automatic is more affordable than the fifth-generation Honda City and Hyundai Verna equipped with automatic transmission. Volkswagen Polo in India has priced between Rs. 5.87 lakh and Rs. 9.67 lakh. Whereas, the Vento has priced between Rs. 8.93 lakh and Rs. 13.39 lakh (ex-showroom).
