In China, the Renault Kwid based EV debuted first as the Renault City K-ZE

Renault subsidiary Dacia has unveiled an electric car in Europe, named Spring Electric. This electric car is based on the Renault Kwid, which is sold in China under the name City K-ZE. Dacia Spring Electric will be available for sale in Europe from March 2021.

The Dacia Spring is powered by an electric motor that gets its power from a 26.8kWh battery pack. Its power output is 44Ps and torque is 125 Nm. Its power output is on par with the city K-ZE. According to the company, this electric vehicle can travel 225 kilometres in full charge. Dacia Spring Electric can be charged up to 80 per cent within an hour with a 30 kW DC fast charger. At the same time, it takes about five hours to charge 80 per cent with a 7.4 kW wall ox charger. It takes about 14 hours for its battery to be fully charged with a 2.3 kW wall ox charger.

The look of Spring electric is similar to the regular Renault Kwid. It has features such as split headlamps, LED DRLs, flex wheels that look like alloy wheels and LED taillights. It also has an orange pack like the Kwid climber which can be seen on its outside rearview mirror, grille and roof rails.

The layout of its interior is exactly like the city K-ZE and the Renault Kwid available in India. It has features like a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay connectivity, steering mounted controls, 3.5-inch digital instrument cluster and a manual AC. Its boot space is 300 litres which can be increased to 600 litres by folding the rear seats.

Dacia Spring Electric will be built at Renault's China plant. Renault Kwid Electric can be introduced in India by 2022. The Kwid Electric coming to India will be based on the second generation Kwid. The comparison of this electric car in India will be from Maruti Suzuki WagonR electric which can be launched here in India next year.
