2020 Mahindra Thar launched in India, price starts from Rs. 9.80 lakhs

The 2020 Mahindra Thar is offered in AX, LX and AX (O) trim and has got the soft top, convertible top and hard-top variants.

Mahindra & Mahindra has finally launched the second generation of its much-awaited offroader SUV Mahindra Thar in India. The price of this SUV starts from Rs. 9.80 lakh to Rs. 13.75 lakhs. The company has introduced the new Thar in AX, LX and AX (O), where AX is adventure-based and LX is lifestyle-based trim, with a soft top, convertible top and hard-top for buyers to choose from.

Talk about the look and feature of the new Mahindra Thar, it is more stylish than its outgoing model and it has been given exterior style pack, intense chrome pack, cladding, rain visors, body decals. The new Thar has got a new dual-tone bumper at the front, with integrated fog lamps and Thar badging on the top.

Mahindra Thar has received round halogen headlamps, while the indicator and LED DRLs are mounted on the wheel arches. Thar features the traditional vertical grille slates facing a modern revision, while optional accessories such as seat covers, steering wheel cover, lamination mats, magnetic sun shades are also available for buyers.

Talking about the interiors, it has a much better cabin design than before and gets an all-black colour scheme, round AC vents with chrome outlining and a handlebar on the dashboard for the front passenger, while if the feature matters it is one step ahead from its outgoing model.

The Thar gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the centre console and a 3.5-inch MID in the instrument console, while the steering wheel gets control for audio and cruise control. The car also gets power front windows, power ORVMs, adjustable lumbar support ( front seat ), height-adjustable driver seat, etc. Interestingly, all the interior bits of the new Thar are waterproof.

Safety features include dual front airbags, ESP with rollover mitigation, hill-hold assist, hill-descent control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, tire pressure monitoring system, and an integrated roll cage. Mahindra says that the Thar's body is crash test safety compliant and the SUV is developed on a stair frame chassis.

To give power, this SUV is going to get 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine, in which the new 2.0-litre petrol engine gives the power of 150 bhp and torque of 320 Nm, while the 2.2-litre diesel engine gives the power of 130 bhp and torque of 350 Nm. It has a 6-speed manual gearbox and a torque converter automatic gearbox.
