Kia Sonet GTX+ automatic variant launched, priced at Rs 12.89 lakhs

Kia Sonet compact SUV comes with an extended range that includes three powertrains and five transmission options.

A few days ago, the most anticipated Kia Sonet was brought up for sale in India. Except for the top-spec GTX+ trim of this vehicle, the prices of all other models were revealed to the buyers. The South Korean auto major has now announced the price of the GTX+ variant which is priced at Rs 12.89 lakh ( ex-showroom, India ). Customers will have to pay the same price for both petrol DCT and diesel AT. The Sonet is offered in HTE, HTK, HTK plus, HTX, HTX plus and GTX plus variants and has an initial price of Rs 6.71 lakh ( ex-showroom, India ).

The GTX+ petrol DCT and GTX+ six-speed diesel AT are being well-liked by buyers whole are booking the compact SUV as the vehicle is loaded with premium features. Also, the GT Line variant is somewhat different from regular Sonet, with the contrast and sporty red accent appearing in the exterior and interior on the vehicle. Highlights of the vehicle include a leather-wrapped D-cut steering wheel with the GT Line logo.

Elsewhere in the car, you can see alloy paddles, red stitches on the steering wheel, armrest and seat as well as an electric sunroof. The Sonet is extended as three powertrain options and as many as five transmissions. Sonet is Kia motors third product for India. The brand debuted with Seltos in August 2019, followed by the launch of Carnival at the 2020 Auto Expo, which also featured Sonet as well in its concept form. Features of the sub-four meter SUV include the segment-first six-speed torque converter AT diesel, 211 mm ground clearance highest in the segment and the largest boot space of its segment.

The 1.2-litre smart stream petrol engine of Sonet develops 84 PS of power and 115 Nm of torque, while the 1.5- litre four-cylinder diesel which is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox generates 100 PS of power and 240 NM of torque. At the same time with 6-speed AT gearbox the same engine generates a power of 115 PS and torque of 250 Nm. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine generates 120 PS of power and 172 Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed iMT and seven-speed DCT gearbox.

The Kia Sonet has some key features which including a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Apple Carplay, Android Auto and Kia's UVO 57-in-car connectivity based features like live traffic alerts, AI-based voice recognition and OTR updates. It also includes premium seven-speaker Bose audio with Sub-woofer, wireless smartphone charging with cooling functionality, smart pure air purifier, remote engine start via UVO connect and smart key, LED sound mood lighting, ventilated front seats, 4.2-inch colour instrument cluster and multi-drive and traction modes for automatic models.
