Second-gen Hyundai Creta Unveiled at Auto Expo 2020

Hyundai Motors India unveiled their second-gen Creta at the ongoing Auto expo 2020 at Greater Noida yesterday. Revealed in China last year as second-gen ix25 Creta looks a lot different than before features extensive changes inside and out. Not only the looks that changed second-gen Creta also get three new Bs6 compliant engines.

Second-gen Hyundai Creta looks completely different from the outgoing model. It gets a radical new design that a sharp departure from the outgoing model looks. Second-gen Creta features Hyundai's signature cascading grille design unlike the three slat grille design of the older model. The proportion of the second-gen model makes it recognizable as Hyundai Creta but when viewed from the front and rear end it looks completely different. It features a new split headlight setup which has a slit-like LED DRL up top with another LED strip flanking the main headlight cluster placed below. The headlight cluster features new LED headlights with new looks fog lamps below. A scuff plate is added to the base of the front bumper to give it a more rugged look.

Side profile of second-gen Hyundai Creta features squared out wheel arches that add muscle to the SUV. The 2020 Creta get flashy diamond-cut 17-inch alloy wheels. The dual-tone paint scheme has been used to good effect with a silver finish extended to the C-pillar. At the back, the read end of Creta has been redesigned to give it a sportier look. Rear-end gets a light bar across the boot with a new LED split tail lamp design and a low set number plate.

Dimensionally, Second-gen Hyundai Creta is marginally larger than the outgoing model with a larger wheelbase. Unfortunately, The cabin of second-gen Hyundai Creta remains a mystery for now as Hyundai has not revealed the interior of the new Creta yet so there is no specific figure about the space on offer inside the SUV. But speculation is that it would be similar to Kia Seltos because  Hyundai and Kia come under Hyundai motor company both have much in common under the skin so space will be at par too. 

Let's see how much feature and cabin design second-gen Hyundai Creta will retain from second-gen Hyundai ix25 its Chinese counterpart. Hyundai ix25 gets a Tesla-like 10.25-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. Hyundai motors India confirmed that second-gen Creta will come with a panoramic sunroof and a more advanced version of connected car technology called blue link 1.5. Featured like cooled seats and wireless charging are also expected from second-gen Creta.

Second-gen Creta will come with three Bs6 compliant engines which are shared with Kia Seltos SUV. The engine choices are a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated petrol engine that will produce 115 Ps of power mated to a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. A 1.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine that will also produce 115 Ps of power mated to a 6-speed manual or a torque converter automatic gearbox. The third engine is the 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine mated to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox option already seen on Kia Seltos.

Hyundai Motor India will launch second-gen Creta in march 2020 with price are expected from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 17 lakh. More details about the interior and more will be revealed closer to launch.
