MG Gloster is a butch looking full-size three-row SUV that will occupy the top position in the MG Motors India lineup even above the upcoming MG Hector plus. Basically, it's a rebadged version of  Maxus D90 SUV which is available in China. Both MG and Maxus are occupied by Chinese automaker SIAC Motors. The same model is also available in countries like Australia under the LDV D90 moniker.

MG Gloster is so big in terms of dimension that road presence is guaranteed in this. Gloster measures 5005 mm in length, 1932 mm in width, 1875 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2950 mm. Despite its size, the soft lines all around the SUV mean that it not the most aggressive looking SUV in the segment. Because of its size, MG Gloster not only shadows over SUVs like Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4, and Isuzu MU-X but is also overshadow models like Toyota Land Cruiser in terms of its overall length and wheelbase. To appeal the Indian taste MG Gloster sports a subtle design as compared to Maxus D90 like a tweaked front grille and chrome highlights.

MG Gloster model which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 runs on chunky 19-inch 255/55 section tires but the vehicle which is available in China runs on massive 21-inch rims as well. And despite being 19-inch wheels looks undersized as compared to the car because of its massive size. The international spec version of Gloster gets double-wishbone suspension at the front and a five-link setup at the rear. MG Gloster gets a 210 mm of ground clearance.

If we talk about the engines the body on frame SUV globally available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The China spec SUV comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine that produces 220 Ps of maximum power and 360 Nm of maximum torque mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive choices are available with Gloster,  along with the functionality of selectable drive modes like sports, eco, rock, sand, mud, snow, and auto. MG Motors will also include a diesel engine for the Gloster to sync with its rugged SUV character. The diesel engine is a 2.0-liter twin-turbo unit that will produce 218 Pps of max power and 480 Nm of peak torque that is said to be derived from FCA's Multijet II mill. This engine is also showcased at the 2019 Guangzhou Motor show.

Safety-wise it will get six airbags, ESP, hill hold control, hill descent control, brake assist, a tire pressure monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors.

We expect MG would launch Gloster in a price bracket of Rs 28 lakh to Rs 35 lakh which is right in the middle of the ring with its competition.
